How to
Install Peel & Stick Wallpaper

How to Install Peel & Stick Wallpaper

Follow our easy step by step guide for the perfect install of your N&F Peel & Stick Wallpaper

STEP ONE

PREPARE THE WALL

Peel & stick adhesive will not bond to dirty, textured, or freshly painted surfaces. Clean the wall thoroughly, let it dry completely, and ensure it's smooth. If the wall was recently painted, allow it to cure for a minimum of 4 weeks before applying panels.

Let the panels acclimate in the room for 24 hours before installation so the adhesive performs at its best.

IMPORTANT: Test adhesion in an inconspicuous spot before committing to the full install, especially on delicate or specialty surfaces.

STEP TWO

GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

Have everything at hand before you begin.

  • Peel & stick panels
  • Measuring tape
  • Level & straightedge
  • Pencil
  • Scissors or craft knife with extra blades
  • Plastic smoothing tool
  • Step ladder
  • Clean, dry cloth

STEP THREE

Mark your plumb line

Use a level and pencil to draw a vertical plumb line from ceiling to floor at your starting point. Never use a corner or baseboard as your guide — walls are rarely perfectly square.

STEP FOUR

Position the First Panel

Peel 12–24 inches of backing from the top of the panel. Align the edge to your plumb line with a little overhang at the ceiling, and lightly press the top section to the wall. Don't press firmly yet — you can still reposition at this stage.

PRO TIP: Any paste on the front of the panel must be wiped off immediately — dried paste can stain.

STEP FIVE

APPLY & SMOOTH THE PANEL

Working from top to bottom, peel the backing away in sections as you press the panel to the wall. Don't pull or stretch the material. Using a plastic smoothing tool, work from the center outward in firm, sweeping strokes to push out all air bubbles.

STEP SIX

TRIM THE EDGES

Using a metal straightedge and a sharp craft knife, trim the overhang at the ceiling and baseboard. One clean, confident cut per edge — no sawing. Change the blade often.

STEP SEVEN

APPLY REMAINING PANELS

Repeat steps 5–7 for each panel, butting each new panel's edge flush against the previous one — no gap, no overlap. Check your level periodically as you go.
