Shot on a Contax 645 with Portra 400 film at Griffith Observatory
"Even on hazy days in Los Angeles, the skyline is stunning. Griffith Observatory is one of my favorite places to go to look out at the beautiful city. I love the detail of the houses and businesses and even trees you can see from looking out from that vantage point." -Heather Howard
Heather Howard is a personal friend, and we couldn't be more honored to debut her gorgeous film photographs in our shop. She knows her stuff and it shows in the beauty and quality of her work.
Heather is a film photography purist. She describes shooting with film as a collaborative yet intimate process. She feels that film offers its own voice, providing unique color, grain, texture, and light.
Because of her deep love and understanding of film, Heather is able to not only capture an image, but the emotion of the moment as well. Her work draws you in and Heather hopes the viewer leaves feeling connected to her soft and simplistic collections.
Heather has refined her style over the years. After receiving a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Film Photography at Utah State University, she worked in New York City as an assistant photographer in high fashion. She was also the manager of a prestigious film photography studio. She has been a wedding and family portrait photographer, but currently finds the most inspiration in photographing nature, especially while traveling with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
