Traditonal Wallpaper

INSTALL GUIDE

1. Prep Your Surface

Using a damp cloth, clean the surface and allow to dry completely. Make sure the walls and/or boards are smooth, solid, dry and free of mold or algae.

Properly prime surface with suitable wallpaper primer. For painted drywall, we recommend Roman PRO-909 VINYL PREP® Clear Wallpaper Primer.

NOTE: Freshly painted walls need at least 2 weeks to properly cure before installing wallpaper.

2. Gather Your Supplies

You'll need a roller or soft bristle brush, a damp cloth or sponge, wallpaper paste (we recommend Roman PRO-543 Liquid Wallpaper Adhesive), and a sharp utility knife.

A seam roller will be helpful but isn't necessary.

3. Layout Your Panels

Lay out the panels before you start in order to verify the positioning of the wallpaper panels.

NOTE: Our panels do not shrink over time and therefore do not require an overlap when installing. Panels should be placed side by side.

4. Paste & Apply

Using a roller or soft bristle brush, apply an even layer of adhesive to the wall where the first panel will go.

Make sure to not paste the entire wall at once as adhesives applied too far in advance may dry out before wallpaper can be hung.

Apply your first panel, smoothing as you go.

Clean any paste from the surface with damp cloth or sponge.
Apply paste for the next panel.Line up panels at eye level and smooth from top to bottom.

TIP:Using proper primer and ample paste will allow it to slide into alignment with the previous panel.

Make sure to leave an half inch at the top and bottom in order to better trim the paper afterwards.

5. Repeat

Once you have properly installed the first panel, continue placing the next pieces one at a time, aligning each seam against the other, being sure not to overlap.

Again, ensure that you quickly use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe up any extra paste from the seams or paper.

For best results, use a seam roller to ensure proper adherence and a smooth look.

6. Trim Excess

When all panels are in place, trim any excess wallpaper at the ceiling and skirting board with a ruler and utility knife.

TIP:Use a ruler while keeping the knife in the cut. When cutting the wallpaper, make sure to use a sharp knife to avoid tearing the paper.

After the wall is complete, avoid any drafts and temperature/humidity changes for 24 hours to ensure that the wallpaper adheres properly.
